  1. I was wondering if I can change the zman for Motzie Shabos should be 72 min after Shkia, shitas R”T.

    Thanks

  2. CalJ is a great help to me, especially that it puts the holidays and my yahrtzeits on my secular calendar.

Please consider this request: Sometimes I look at the day before only, and don’t notice the holiday. Would it be possible to add a note on the prior day that it’s “erev pesach” or something like that, when you transfer a holiday date to the secular calendar?

Let me wish you Shanah Tovah and an easy fast, and thank you for your work in making and maintaining this software.

  3. 1. When in month view, There is no easy way to flip or swipe from month to month.
    2. There is no way to find a random day in the past or future.

  4. I really appreciate this app! Please consider adding an option or feature of showing on its daily or calendar the weekly Shabbat Candlelighting time (& maybe also yom tov lighting times)

    Thanks for your consideration,
    Chana Solway

    1. Hi, thank you for using my app. Could you explain what exactly you would like to see?
      Thanks,
      Gabriel.

  5. Thank you so much for this incredibly helpful app!!

Please add nekudos to Mein Shalosh on the iphone app like you have for Borei Nefashos!

Thank you again and g’mar chasima tova!!

    1. Hi Dave,
Thank you for using CalJ. I will change that, and it will be released בע”ה in the second next version (not the one currently pending validation at Apple, but yet the next one).
      Thanks! גמר חתימה טובה

      1. I just downloaded the new update. Thank you so much for adding nekudos to Mein Shalosh!! I will continue to recommend your very useful app to friends and family!

    1. Thank you for your message!
I would like to implement Landscape mode, but this is not as easy a feature as it seems: what would be a nice layout on the big wide screen, with not too little information nor too much? It seems to me that I cannot simply use the same layout only rotated 90°.
      Suggestions appreciated! Thanks.

      1. There have been many useful updates to the App and I always look out for the possible option to allow rotation. I only just now saw your reply to my suggestion. May I add that I really think that just offering the option to rotate without any additions or changes to the content would look just fine.
Anyhow, thank you again for a really wonderful App!

  6. Love your app! It helps so much making sure I am on time for everything and syncing it with my secular calendar. I was wondering if you could add fast day start and end times to sync with the secular calendar? That would be a HUGE help…

  7. I want to ask you something about the app.

1-There is a note about, if that day there is tachanunim or not.Can you add same note about tefillin.?

2-Can you add a notification for the days that there is no tachanunim and tefillin as you make for Omer.

3- And the same notification will be great if you add for Birkat Halevana also.

I think these will be very usefull .

  8. Thank you for the great app.
Would it be possible to add an option for a totally white background (iphone version)? I feel it would be cleaner.
Also how about a way to export just my custom events into my ios calendar? That way I could get just my yahrzeit dates.
    Thanks again.

    1. Dear Aron,
Thank you for your message. I will consider giving a white background option.
I will also see what I can do regarding the export of the Yahrzeits alone, בע”ה

      Thanks,
      Gabriel

  9. Thank you for great job
Please consider a feasible feature — option to see daily study portions in the date page.
May be it would require a two-screens page. That is good sign! As every SUCCESSFUL project grows owertime

    1. Dear Henry,
This is indeed a great idea. What kind of daily study would you like to recommend?
      Thank you, Moadim LeSimcha.
      Gabriel

  10. It’s a fantastic app. The only that could possibly be better is if it amalgamated into the Galaxy calendar. Kol tov achi.

    1. Thank you very much!
You are referring to the Android edition, I believe.
The integration with Google Calendar is definitely a feature I hope to develop soon, אי”ה !

  11. Right now I can only transfer holidays an custom events to my iCloud or local calendar on my iPad. I need to transfer them to my Google calendar, but there does not seem to be a way to do that.

    1. Dear Clive,

Thank you for using my app.
Currently, the transfer can target any locally registered calendars. If you declare your Google calendar as a Calendar source in your iOS device, it will appear in the destination list in CalJ when you tap the Export Dates button.

      Gabriel.

  12. Thank you for this incredible app! I use it everyday! I would like to know if you can make a feature to do a custom reminder for sof zman tefila for gra the way there is one for sof zman krias shema.
Additionally, since downloading the newest update the app keeps crashing.
    Please advise
    Thank you again

    1. Hello,
Thank you for using my app, and for suggesting.
What is the version of the app that keeps crashing? of your iOS system? on which device?
Have you tried to remove and reinstall?
      Thank you,
      Gabriel

        1. Great!
Thank you. May I ask you to write a review on the AppStore?

Your suggestion about Latest Tefila reminder will be shipped with next release אי”ה !

          Gabriel

  13. Jejasher koiach for your useful app.
I wonder whether you cou could add a feature to have more semanim for tzeiss hakoichovim? We use here 8.5 degrees the 7 degrees we only use for motzei taanis. Maybe you could just leave it open to enter the degrees (with default values 7 or 8.5) if you wishe)
    Thanks and regards.
    Moishe

    1. Dear Moishe,
      Thank you very much.
Currently the zman for Tzeiss haKochavim is calculated at -7.08 degrees.
CalJ uses -8.5 degrees for the zman of Motsae’ Shabbat.

Your suggestion is interesting — although leaving a free input might be confusing to the users, but a choice among different shitot could be the solution.
What would you name the opinion of using -8.5 degrees for Kochavim?

      Thanks,
      Col tuv,
      Gabriel

  14. Hi, have you heard of a new intelligent clock the Glance Clock? Do you think you could synchronize your program with this clock? This way you could have all zmanim information being shown in the clock. I am not advertising, I only bought one, and as a Jew I would like to have zmanim data being shown in this clock

    1. Hi Sergio,

Thank you for your suggestion. This is a brilliant idea! Would you like to contribute to the project, by donating one unit, for me to review and learn?

      Thanks!
      Gabriel

  15. Who knows, you can request a partnership with the Glance clock, explain the demand of the Jewish community for a product that can also inform religious hours and maybe get a clock for half the price, to develop the part of the program to run your Program with theirs.
    Good Luck

  16. Hello Gabriel, thank you for this amazing app! I had been using the app on the iphone for years and become very accustomed to it, recently I bought an Android phone and there are some differences with the Android version.
My main question is if it could be possible to order the custom dates within the custom events tab, the simplicity on the iOS app is very useful. I cannot seem to find any order of the custom events on the android app.

    1. Dear Elijah,

Thank you for using my app. You are right, the sorting is missing for Custom Events in the Android edition. I will work on it soon, בע”ה !

  17. Great app!
Would be nice, though, if all the personal data could be backed up to, say, a Word, Excel or PDF file. I do not use Facebook and am very reluctant to share anything at all with them…
    Thanks!

    1. Hi Alan,
Thank you for your comment. Actually, no data are shared with Facebook. CalJ uses only the Facebook Identity Service: they hold your identity and password, etc., and CalJ doesn’t. CalJ users only your Facebook ID as a key to your personal CalJ data, which are stored in my database. But Facebook doesn’t “see” them, nor do I “see” your Facebook data. The configuration that CalJ stores, in the record identified by your Facebook ID for whoever chose to use the Facebook Login in the app, is: the list of cities, the various opinion choices, and your reminder settings. This helps as a backup and also to sync with your other devices.

However, I completely understand that one would not like to use Facebook as a digital identity provider. The app already offers the possibility to save/backup your Anniversaries list as a file that you can store by yourself.

      Thanks!
      Shabbat shalom

  18. Hi, thank you for a wonderful app. It has helped me and I especially like the compass so that I could know which way to daven. could you put Sefer tehillim on the app? That would be so helpful

    Thanks again and tizku lemitzvos

  19. Cons: Hebrew. Some people can read it, others cannot. In the section labeled “More”, there are: “Me’ein Shalosh”; “Borei Mefashot”; etc.

Which, I guess, are different blessings. I can’t tell because I can’t read Hebrew.
Unless you are religiously obligated to not use English when it comes to blessings, can you make them English for your English readers and Hebrew for the Hebrew copy of your app?

Otherwise, I have to put the name of the particular blessing into a search engine to read them in English, Hebrew and transliteration of the Hebrew.

Pros: like how simple and easy to navigate your app. Your little calendar makes it simple to know what day it is in the secular world AND religious world.

I have 13 other things I like about your app but I won’t take up space here.

    1. Hi Ben,

      Thank you for your message.
I understand your frustration. I’ve added the blessings and prayers year after year, as a feature to solve the particular needs of observant people who need to recite them at various times of the day while being at work or on the train or out at an event etc. These are day-to-day helpers that people (who are used to pray) can keep in their pocket at all times.

I think that this is mostly the audience of my app.
Additionally, replicating the English transliteration for every prayer and blessing represents an lot of work which I unfortunately can’t afford alone, as this app isn’t but my benevolent spare-time hobby.
There are several Websites (or apps) which offer the Tefilot in English transliteration, or translation, along with explanations about what to say when and in which conditions.
I believe that one who doesn’t read Hebrew for the daily prayers, and still wishes to say them every day even outside a synagogue, should try their best to invest some effort in it learning some Hebrew, rather than pronounce cryptic syllables with little sense, if at all. But of course, G-od forbid, I make no judgment on anyone and their possibilities in time and availability.

As for the dates themselves: the app is able to print the names of the months and festivals both in Hebrew and English.
Please feel free to submit your other requests! as some of them might already be on my To-Do list 🙂

      Thanks,
      Col tuv,
      Gabriel

    1. Hi, thank you for your message. What kind of sync would you like? At the moment you can inscribe the Jewish Festivals and your personal reminders (birthdays, yahrzeits) to your Apple calendar.

  20. Fantastic iPhone app – cannot believe it is free what with the alert reminders and all! Amazing. If I could make one suggestion to add a feature – would it be possible to add the option of choosing 8.5 degrees for tzeit hakochavim as I believe that is the standard minhag, though I could be wrong.

Hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and strong.

    1. Thank you very much for your message!

I think that -8.5 degrees is the End of Shabbat (small stars). The more lenient Tzeit haKochavim is generally earlier than that.
But, I can certainly try to see what I can do to let you choose.

      Thanks!

      1. Hi,

Yes that would be awesome. 8.5 degrees is what MyZmanim and the other zmanim apps use for tzeit hakochavim – I believe there is a reason we use that calculation to calculate when shabbat ends. But your app, though, is way better and you should take the opportunity, if you can, to really be the best app out there!

Kol hakavod and keep helping Jews all over the world! 🙂

        1. Thanks! I will see what I can do.
Do you know what Rabbi name I should indicate, regarding the 8.5-degree opinion in my options page?

  21. Please correct zman of tefilin according to rav ovadya is 12 min after alot not 6
Plag yalkut yosef doesn’t exist he was chozer bo

  22. שלום וברכה

Thank you for this incredibly useful app. I would like to dad CalJ as a widget in the new Smart Stack available in IOS 14. Any plans to make this available?

    יישר כח

    1. Dear Yehuda,

Thank you very much for your message.
At the moment I have no idea what this Smart Stack is about 🙂 I will try to get some information and, hopefully, we will see!

      Col tuv,
      Gabriel

  23. Hey, this app is exactly what I’ve been looking for, except one issue makes it nearly impossible for me to use 🙁
When I create a new Birthday or Yartzeit I need to swipe back all the way to the original date one month at a time!
Is there anyway to add the option to type in the date manually? Or perhaps just to put in the Hebrew date directly?

I am using an Android – Samsung Galaxy s9.

Thank you and looking foreward to hearing from you soon,

  24. Gabriel, Thanks so much for your great program. Is there a name for the nusach you use? I ask because although I have selected “Ashkenaz “, calJ versions (eg birchas haShochar) are differently ordered (and sometimes different verbiage) than those in my Artscroll siddurim (regular, RCA) and machzoriim. Thanks again.

    1. Robert,

Thank you very much for your message.
Could you indicate which system you use? (Android / iOS)

Specifically for birchas haShochar you are right: on Android so far I’ve put only the Edot haMizrach version.
I need to update the app.

      Thanks!

  25. Please add a setting to make the font larger by various sizes. I am sure many older people are using this or would like to use it and have trouble seeing the small font. My father is one of them. I use it on an Apple iPad but I am sure this feature can and should apply to all devices.
    Thanks very much.

    1. Hi Nechama,
Thank you for using my app.
Currently this feature is not available in the app. If this is urgent, you may send me the spreadsheet and I will convert it to a JSON file for you (a format that CalJ is able to import).

      Thanks,
      Gabriel

  26. I am not sure if I am leaving this comment in the right place so if I am not, please accept my apologies.

I just wanted to thank the authors of this program for this incredibly useful app.

One tiny suggestion, for bedtime shma include the entire shma because some people repeat it if they said Mariv before dark

Thank you so much for your kind consideration and wonderful program

    1. Dear Ken,
Thank you very much for your message, I apologize for the incredible delay for me to respond.

Of course, this is a great suggestion, I will see what I can do.
Thank you, and again, sorry for the delay!

      Gabriel

  27. I would like to thank you very much for this great app. I enjoy it very much.
Of late had a thought. Perhaps it could be possible for you to include somewhere in your app. what year we are from the last “Shmita “ year. Also to include whether one should bless for “Maaser Sheni” or “Maaser Oni”.
As one who has fruit in his garden it would help a lot. Perhaps it is already shown but I couldn’t find it.
    Thanks. Shana Tova!

  28. Hi,

Great app & Kol Hakavod to you!

If possible to add Haftorahs for the Shabbos and Yom Tovim, i.e which Haftorahs to say and perhaps maybe each custom Ashkenazi, Sephardi, Chassidim etc.

    Once again, great app.

    Using IOS

  29. Hi, this is a great app, I’ve been using it for years!! Couple of feature requests:
    1) Can you add nusach sefard for all of the davenings? (Not to be confused with Eidot Hamizrach which sefardim used. Nusach sefard is used by some ashkenazim (chassis’s, da general rule)
    2) when going into settings from within a page in the app (e.g. going to the “choosing rite” page from davening) pressing “back” should take you back where you came from and not to the main settings page
    3) the widget is great. Would be great if there was a lockscreen widget for iOS as well
